Victorian all brass wide drum
Salmon winch, dating c 1830,
reel having
heavy full size check housing on opposite
side to handle
,triple
brass pillars with flat brass bar to hold foot, foot
blade made from sheet brass with perforated edges , and riveted to flat
bar bridge with 5 iron pins, the perforated edges of foot were for
binding reel to handle of the rod with leather strips or thongs,
this is a
very
large size reel for this era,
and very few of these large old winches turn up, reel having curved winding arm with original bone handle knob, heavy check
clicker from the raised full rear housing, reel in very good condition
for age, reel has never been polished, and retains it old aging patina, scarce collectors
reel, circa 1830
